Frequent tournament play is critical to improving your chess. Unfortunately, tournaments in Utah are sparse. The purpose of the Utah Chess Club is to provide opportunities for serious chess players to interact, study together and play frequent rated matches and tournaments.
To join, potential members must meet the following requirements:
- Be passionate and serious about improving (no minimum rating requirement)
- Be respectful and eager to help others improve
- Be referred to the club by an existing club member
Members enjoy the enormous benefit of participating in a community of like-minded players who support each other in the road to mastery. In addition, this website is home to resources for study and enjoyment. It was said of master artists that they first seek to make themselves perfect, and having achieved this, they just paint naturally. And so it is with chess. To achieve mastery of the game a player must first master himself - his emotions, thoughts, desires, focus, stamina, respect and passion. This translates to more than just studying a chess board, and we hope that this chess community will be a valuable resource to everyone who is on the road to mastery.
